Advancement.

Advancement in Broken World is based on a tier system that uses a characters activity to determine points gained.

Points are gained on a scale of 0 or 2 depending on your involvement and activity. Points are distributed by your group leader or, if you have no group that you belong to, by a point administrator. Unfortunately, someone who is inactive will not have the ability to contribute to the group or the self contained rp they are a part of and thus should not be eligible to advance (though they by all means may still rp) This rewards those who are actively involved, either by helping to set up an rp and or being a part of that RP.

1 point earned for activity (ooc and rp)
1 point earned for actively rp’ing training with a given skill.

Guidelines for obtaining said points.

Activity OOC/RP:
Since most people have more then one character, it is difficult to determine your activity outside of a group. Thus OOC activity is defined both by your characters involvement in RP’s as well as your involvement in an ooc capacity. If you belong to a group your help/information/participation is taken into account. If said character is not in a group then your over all activity on the forums etc as well as RP is taken into account. Activity in this respect gains you overall 1 point.

Training Points:
A point may be gained if your character roleplays with another learning more about a said skill or skills. This does not mean you can write one post and receive a point, you must show overall progression with ‘training’ and provide proof to the Points Admin in order to obtain it.

Spending Points
As your character progresses through a skills tiers, the cost of them will increase. It stands to reason that gaining a skill in real life takes time and thus it shall take time in this fantasy world we are a part of. Below is a basic tier level outline and the points needed to reach each tier. Please also keep in mind that there will need to be someone to teach you most of the skills you wish to learn.

Tiers 1 - 4 cost 1 point
Tiers 5- 8 cost 2 points
Tiers 9 - 12 cost 3 points

As always, the OP system has been a complex thing. And as channelers spend years learning and honing their skills, it stands to reason that learning weaves will cost more and take longer. As such the OP system will be a bit different in skill learning then basic mundane things. Not only will a channeler need to spend to gain a tier level, but each weave they wish to learn will cost them a point. Keep in mind, like with any other skill, someone who already knows the weave will need to be present in your group or your area in order for you to learn it. Channelers do not have to learn each weave in each tier, but they must know at least half or better of the weaves in order to advance. Exp: Tier 1 has 3 weaves. a character must know 2 of those weaves in order to advance.

We realize that not every group will have access to mid level tier knowledge, and definitely not high level tier knowledge, but please, do not panic. In the near future NPC's will be installed in various regions of the world to learn from. Characters will need to adventure to these places if they wish to progress further then what their neighbors can teach them.

Restrictions:

Anything above level 6 requires an instructor.
Any new weaves learned requires someone to learn it from
Any new skill not approved in your original biography requires you to learn it from someone.
Male channelers cannot advance beyond a 4 with weapons/combative skills (the op learning takes too much of thier time)
Female channelers cannot go beyond a 2 with weapons/combative skills for the same reason
